The SR&ED program is a federal tax incentive program, administered by the Canada Revenue Agency, that encourages Canadian businesses of all sizes, and in all sectors to conduct research and development in Canada. It is the largest single source of federal government support for industrial R&D.
The SR&ED program gives claimants cash refunds and/or tax credits for their expenditures on eligible innovation work done in Canada. If you're set up as a Canadian controlled Private Corporation - CCPC, you're in line for cash refunds.
R&D tax credit claims can be submitted up to 18 months after the end of your fiscal year. Depending on timing, you may be able to file two SR&ED claims simultaneously. Four cheques from the government (two from the feds, two from Ontario)!
